Hypnobirthing will give you the tools and understanding to feel empowered during your labour experience and to enter with a positive mindset and a calm outlook.
So, what is Hypnobirthing?
Good question. In short, it’s a state of deep meditation. It is a series of tools and practices to assist you during your labour.
Hypnobirthing is a practice created by Marie Mongan, M.Ed., M.Hy., a hypnotherapist and Harvard University Ford Foundation Fellow. The philosophy behind hypnobirthing has been around forever. Natural birthing is not new. The idea is that mother and baby take control and work together, after all our bodies are made to do this. It’s the belief that every woman has the power to use maternal instinct to birth in comfort and in a way that mirrors nature.
What’s involved?
Through the teaching of specific breathing techniques, positive affirmation and self-hypnosis, at LoveCo baby, we teach you how to enter a state of harmony and deep relaxation. When our bodies are calm, we can begin the journey to opening and accepting. Hypnobirthing presents tools to bring you back to a calm mindset even if your birthing doesn’t go as planned, or the experience is intensified.
Using affirmations such as ‘I am safe, my baby is safe’ and ‘I trust my body to do what it is supposed to do’ can be powerful on its own, but combined with breathing techniques and visualisation, hypnobirthing can actually be a joyful experience. Hypnobirthing teaches you ways in which to let go of the fears and condition yourself to the point of actually releasing endorphins during birth. Yep, for real, endorphins!
We’ll teach you and your birthing partner ways to work together throughout your pregnancy, birth and ongoing. They will learn tools and ways to assist in a helpful way, with a calm approach. Through pressure points, massage and breathing techniques this can be a truly enlightening journey, enjoyed together.
